My name is Wendie Roeper and have been a resident of Safety Harbor since 1981, altho I was born in New Jersey and grew up in Maryland. I received my RN through studies at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore and then went to the University of Maryland and finished in Journalism. I worked for 47 years in Nursing in various specialties from ER, Recovery Room, ICU, CCU, Open Heart, and GI Lab. I was at one time a staff nurse, a team leader, a charge nurse, a supervisor of a unit, and as a hospital supervisor. I wrote and instituted one of the first Cardiac Rehab programs in the Humana System. The best, in my opinion, job that I held was the Supervisor of Stanford University Pediatric Hospital at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. I’m still in awe at the work that is done there.
Upon retiring, I became very involved in my church and was the home visitor for the ill, and took the altar flowers each Monday to a homebound, and I was the cook for 4 years for every meal that was served, be it for a small luncheon every week during lent, to strawberry festivals, and spaghetti dinners for up to 500 folks. I served on the Evangelism Board
